In a new project in Descript, you’ll see a text editor where you’ll be writing your podcast script. Click Ask AI to Write and choose whether you want it to write a script, outline a script, or brainstorm ideas with you. You’ll get a prompt template you can edit to include your topic, style, audience, or other details—or you can write your own custom prompt. Hit enter when you’re done and let AI generate your script draft in seconds.
Review the AI-generated script and make any edits or adjustments you want. Add more talking points, rewrite sections in your own words, and refine the outline structure. It's your podcast, so ensure the script aligns with your vision. As always, AI gives you a strong starting point you can then customize.
With your script finalized, you can record it immediately by clicking the Record icon. Or you can add an ‘@’ to start assigning it to an AI voice or voice clone. Both options allow you to edit the text to edit the audio. From there you can go to Publish to export your script as a transcript, or produce the rest of your podcast episode in Descript and publish it directly to platforms like YouTube or Spotify.
